The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox 8-5 on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, New York advances to 100-61 while the Red Sox fall to 107-54 with the loss. Nathan Eovaldi made the start for Boston and Domingo German did so for New York. The game was played at Fenway Park in Boston.

Eovaldi continued his hot September with two scoreless innings to go along with four punchouts and zero walks. He was removed quickly to conserve his arm for the upcoming ALDS and Eduardo Rodriguez was thrust into relief in the third. Unlike his teammate, E-Rod struggled in his bullpen appearance. He allowed three earned runs with two strikeouts and two walks in two innings of work. Meanwhile, Brandon Workman, a strong candidate for one of the last spots in the Red Sox bullpen, had a horrendous inning of three earned run baseball.

On the offensive side of the ball, Brock Holt stole the limelight. He blasted his 7th homer of the 2018 season and, like Eovaldi, resumed his scorching month.

The Boston Red Sox will take on the New York Yankees at 3:05 p.m. eastern on Sunday. Rick Porcello is scheduled to make the start for the Sox and the Yankees have yet to announce who will do so for them. It will be the last game of the 2018 regular season.
