According to reports, the Boston Red Sox have extended manager Alex Cora‘s contract through 2021 with a team option for 2022.
This decision should come as a surprise to no one. The 2018 rookie manager led the team to its 9th World Series victory and finished second in American League Manager of Year voting. He also oversaw the winningest team in Red Sox history.
His original contract was a three-year pact, expiring in 2020.
“Alex did a tremendous job for our club all year long & we wanted to reward him for his efforts after an amazing season. We are extremely happy that he will be with us and leading our club on the field.”#RedSox Pres. of Bball Ops Dave Dombrowski on Alex Cora’s contract extension. pic.twitter.com/lDdGkaKJMa
