The Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles 19-12 on Friday night. With the victory, Boston advances to 82-35 while Baltimore falls to 35-81 on the season. Nathan Eovaldi started the game for the Sox and Dylan Bundy did the same for the O’s. The game was played at Camden Yards in Baltimore.

It was a back-and-forth slugfest between the first and last place team in the American League East. There were 31 runs, 33 hits and 6 homeruns combined in the contest. The Sox had to turn to seven different pitchers while the O’s managed to get by with five.

Nathan Eovaldi, after being the wunderkind in his first two starts with Boston,  struggled against an incredibly weak Orioles’ lineup.  In 2 and 2/3 innings, he surrendered 10 hits, 8 runs and 4 earned runs while retiring no hitters by way of the strikeout.

Luckily, the Red Sox offense is not of this planet, so they took an 8-3 deficit and made it 19-11 in no time. Xander Bogaerts kicked off the scoring for Boston with a three-run shot in the 1st inning. The bats got really hot again in the 6th when they put up six runs to regain the lead. Brock Holt clobbered his second homer of the 2018 season to begin that inning.

They tallied eight more runs in the 7th and 8th inning, which was very Red Sox-esque.

The Boston Red Sox take on the Baltimore Orioles at 1:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. eastern in a day/night doubleheader. For the first game, Boston will pit David Price on the hill against Jimmy Yacabonis.
