The Boston Red Sox hung a four spot in the second inning on Mets starter Steven Matz, and they never looked back in their defeat of the New York Mets at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie.

Gorkys Hernandez had the biggest day for the Sox, as he went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in the second inning to give Boston the early 4-0 early lead. Rafael Devers, Tate Matheny and Chad De La Guerra all went 2-for-3 at the plate as well in the win. De La Guerra recorded a triple and an RBI single.

Seven different Red Sox players recorded RBIs in the win, including outfielder Danny Mars off the bench, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI single in the ninth inning. Sam Travis also drove in a run with a single.

On the mound, Eduardo Rodriguez got the start and the win, throwing two shutout innings out of the gate in which he struck out two. The bullpen pitched well, especially Mike Shawaryn, who threw 2.1 innings and struck out five batters while letting up just two hits.

The only reliever who had any trouble was Denyi Reyes, who let up two runs on three hits in his one inning of work.

The win moved the Sox to 5-5 so far this spring, and they will take on Washington Nationals for the second time on Tuesday in West Palm each. Hector Velazquez is the scheduled starter for Boston, while Max Scherzer is set to start for Washington.
