After dropping Friday’s rain-delayed game 6-1, the Red Sox once again found themselves in the win column Saturday. Eduardo Rodriguez shines in his first return from injury, leading the Red Sox to a 6-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox.

Eduardo Rodriguez Shines in Return, Leads Red Sox to 6-1 Win

Eduardo Rodriguez took the mound for the first time since mid-July. Last we saw E-Rod, the talented lefty had suffered a nasty injury which was potentially season-ending. Fortunately, Rodriguez made his triumphant return Saturday, throwing one of the best outings of his career.

Rodriguez pitched 5.2 innings of one-hit ball, allowing just one walk while striking out 12 batters. It was a dominant effort by the lefty, and even had a perfect game through four innings while striking out 10. His fastball reached the mid-90’s, his slider had motion, and the White Sox didn’t stand a chance against him. Put simply, Eddie was dominant all game.

While he only went 5.2 innings, he probably would have gone deeper had this not been his return from injury. The lefty threw just 90 pitches before getting pulled, so pitch count was not an issue for Rodriguez Saturday night.

While Rodriguez was the star of the night, the offense also put together a fine show. Eduardo Nunez, Jackie Bradley Jr., and Ian Kinsler all launched solo shots, while Steve Pearce and J.D. Martinez drove in a few runs of their own.

Bradley was probably the best offensive performer of the night. In addition to his solo shot, Bradley also launched a triple on his first at-bat of the night. The center fielder has been hilariously unlucky all season long, and that luck is starting to level out. Hopefully, he can continue tearing the cover off the ball for the rest of the regular season and into the postseason.
