The Boston Red Sox have placed left-handed starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez on the 10-day disabled list with a right ankle sprain.

He suffered the injury in Saturday afternoon’s game while trying to cover first base to record the out. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. slid into first and E-Rod attempted to jump to avoid the collision. He landed awkwardly on his ankle and was immediately removed from the game.

The X-rays he had after the game were negative, but he also has a history of knee issues which are also of concern, here.

In his place, Brian Johnson has been activated from the disabled list and will make the start against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. He will join Drew Pomeranz and Steven Wright as injured Boston starting pitchers.
