The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-2 at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida Friday afternoon. With the loss, Boston’s Grapefruit League record sits at 6-8.

There were not many highlights on the Red Sox’ side with one giant exception. Rising left-handed pitching prospect Darwinzon Hernandez dealt a commanding three innings of work. He allowed one hit and one walk, struck out four batters, and kept the O’s off the scoreboard.

Bobby Poyner and Travis Lakins also pitched in the contest. Poyner threw two innings of one-earned run ball, while Lakins got tagged for two runs in an inning.

With the sticks, the Sox were stunned to silence. The team only managed to accumulate two hits the entire game. Eduardo Nunez and Tzu-Wei Lin were responsible for them.

The Boston Red Sox take on the New York Mets at 1:05 p.m. eastern on Saturday in JetBlue Park. It will feature Eduardo Rodriguez and Zack Wheeler toeing it out on the rubber.
