Chris Sale deals in Spring Training debut

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Atlanta Braves 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. Chris Sale made his Spring Training debut with four scoreless innings, seven strikeouts and zero walks.

It was a superb pitching performance by all of Boston’s pitchers. Matt Barnes, Ryan Brasier, Tyler Thornburg and Darwinson Hernandez also made appearances in this contest. Specifically, Hernandez dealt two scoreless innings and lowered his Spring Training ERA to 0.90.

On the offensive side, Mookie Betts demolished a solo moonshot in the bottom of the 6th. It was crushed over the Monster in left field of JetBlue Park. The Red Sox also accumulated four doubles.

The Boston Red Sox take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at 1:05 p.m. eastern. It will take place at LECOM Park.
