According to reports, Red Sox ace pitcher Chris Sale will be placed back on the 10-day disabled list with left shoulder inflammation. He had just returned from the disabled list on Sunday and made a masterful start against the Baltimore Orioles. Sale will be placed on the mend retroactive to Wednesday.

In his place, the Red Sox have called up right-handed reliever Brandon Workman. It will be curious to see who will make the spot start in Sale’s absence. Of course, there’s no timetable for his return but, at this point, the move seems more precautionary than anything.

Anyway, it seems like a safe bet to assume Hector Velazquez or Drew Pomeranz will get an opportunity to start. Sale was scheduled to pitch tomorrow and it is unsure who will take his place at this time.
