The Red Sox fell behind early on in the first inning 3-2, but came back to score runs in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th innings to win their Major League-leading 87th win of the season. The Red Sox are now 10.5 games ahead of the second place Yankees.
Bogaerts hit a double and a triple and drove in his 73rd and 74th runs of the season. Eduardo Nunez, Mitch Moreland, Jackie Bradley Jr., and J.D. Martinez also drove in runs for the Sox. Martinez accumulated his 105th RBI of the season.
Johnson went 5.2 innings giving up five hits, three runs, two walks, and two strikeouts.
The Red Sox are the only team with 80 or more wins in the Majors right now as they are on pace to win 112 games this season, according to FiveThirtyEight.com. This season marks the first time since 1946 that the Red Sox are fifty games above .500.
The Red Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays tonight at 7:10. David Price (12-6, 3.75) will face off against Tyler Glasnow (1-2, 3.97) at Fenway Park.
