Chris Sale struck out eleven in seven innings and surrendered two earned runs. Robbie Scott came in and gave up two more earned runs to take the loss, followed by Joe Kelly, who gave up two more for the 6-2 loss.
Mookie Betts went 0-2 with two walks. He was also hit by a pitch, but managed to steal second after taking his base. Rafael Devers hit a solo shot in the 6th inning to put a Sox run on the board. A Sandy Leon single drove Devers in, giving Devers credit for both Red Sox runs.
The Twins’ Zach Duke picked up the win while reliever Fernando Rodney got the save.
Last night’s loss to the Twins saw the Red Sox fall one game behind the Yankees in the American League East standings. The Red Sox will take on the Twins again tonight at 8:10 pm with David Price on the mound for the Sox.
