The Boston Red Sox escaped yesterday’s game with a victory they probably shouldn’t have earned. Today, the Sox left no doubt that they deserved the win. Powered by an 11 run inning, the Boston Red Sox laid down a commanding beating on the Miami Marlins. With the win, Boston advances to 92-42 on the season, completing the season sweep of Miami

11 Run Inning Powers Boston Red Sox To Victory

Despite what the final score would say, there was a time when it looked like the Boston Red Sox would drop this one. The Sox entered the bottom of the seventh trailing 5-3. However, Miami turned to its bullpen, and the Boston Red Sox absolutely destroyed it.

The inning started off with an Eduardo Nunez single and an Ian Kinsler double to put runners on second and third. Blake Swihart, pinch-hitting for Sandy Leon, drove in Nunez with a single, and Jackie Bradley Jr. drove in Kinsler with a double.Mookie Betts then gave the Red Sox the lead, driving home Swihart and Bradley with a double to the right-center gap.

The fun didn’t stop there, as the lineup batted around en route to scoring 11 runs. Outside of Andrew Benintendi, every single member of the Boston Red Sox made it on base at least once. This inning could be the spark the Red Sox offense needed to break out of its recent slump.

The big damper on the game was the injury to Red Sox starter David Price. Price took the mound for the Sox but had to leave after the third inning when he took a line drive off his forearm. He went straight to the clubhouse and the Red Sox announced he had a left wrist contusion. The severity of the injury remains unknown, but Price did return to the dugout later in the game. That’s probably a good sign for his long-term health.
