The Detroit Tigers defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-3 on Tuesday afternoon at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. With the loss, the Red Sox plummet to the bottom of the Grapefruit League standings at 6-11.

No one cares about the results of Spring Training games. The salient narrative is that David Price made his 2019 pitching debut. Boston’s now beloved southpaw tossed three innings of two earned run baseball. He also punched out four and walked two.

Boston has not been firing on any offensive cylinders lately and this game was not an exception. All three of their runs came in the 9th inning with all of the team’s regulars out of the game.

On the bright side, Dustin Pedroia played again. He went 1-2 out of the seven-hole for the Red Sox.

The Boston Red Sox will have the luxury of hosting their Spring Training rivals Wednesday. Minnesota will be at JetBlue for a 1:05 p.m. eastern start time. Nathan Eovaldi, who recently ran into a lot of money, will make his Spring debut for the Sox.
