The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Boston Red Sox 9-1 at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. This lopsided affair did not come with much offensive flair for the Red Sox besides a Xander Bogaerts long ball.

Bogaerts destroyed a ball over the “monster” in the 4th inning to accrue Boston’s only run of the game. It was an absolute moonshot and amplifies the shortstop’s hot start to the spring. To be honest, this was the only notable offensive showcase for the Red Sox in the game.

In terms of pitching, there was not a lot to inspire confidence. Colten Brewer, the fringe Opening Day reliever, continued his Spring Training woes. He allowed an earned run in an inning but also issued three walks to no strikeouts. The former Padres prospect sits at a troubling 12.00 ERA in the early days of these fairly meaningless contests.

Kutter Crawford, an RSU favorite, was afforded the opportunity to pitch in this one and it did not go well. The former 16th round pick enabled four earned runs to score in one and one-third innings.

The Red Sox take on their Spring Training rivals in the Minnesota Twins tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. eastern. Highly-touted pitch prospect Darwinson Hernandez will take the hill for the Sox.
